Boggle

Boggle is a word game that can help drastically to improve the vocabulary and spelling of everyone who plays it.

equipment

When you play the game you need two boggle trays and 16 letter pieces. Each letter piece is like a dice with each side being another letter.

You also need a piece of paper and a pencil.

Set Up

Mix up all the letters and put them randomly into a four by four tray. Next put the second tray on top of it and flip both trays over so the top tray becomes the bottom tray. Then when everyone is ready take the top tray off and turn the timer on.

Play

When the top tray is taken off, all players look at the board and try to find words that are formed by the letters. You can only use letters that are next to each other. So if you spell JAR the J and A have to be next to each other and the A and R have to be next to each other, either horizontally, vertically or diagonally.

When you find words that have at least 3 letters you Wright it down. You want to Wright down as many words as possible before the timer goes out.

Winning

When the timer goes off everyone playing drops their pencil and stops writing. Then one by one all players take turns reading the words that they have written, if you have duplicate words you must cross them off.

You add up the points of these words based on the number of letter it has.

5 or less letters = 1 point

6 letters = 2 points

7 letters = 4 points

8 or more letters = 10 points

Whoever has the most points at the end of the round wins.
